Mission Statement
ReadyKids promotes kids' well-being through counseling, family support, and early learning opportunities.About ReadyKids Inc.
For more than 100 years, ReadyKids has been helping kids and families thrive throughout Charlottesville and the surrounding region. Founded in 1921 as a home for kids orphaned by the flu pandemic, ReadyKids has grown and evolved alongside our community while remaining committed to the well-being of kids and families. Today, we impact more than 3,000 local kids, parents, and caregivers each year through our no-cost programs, services, and outreach.
Our mission is to promote kids’ well-being through counseling, family support, and early learning opportunities. We envision a community where every child is learning, healthy, and safe.
ReadyKids provides a continuum of services that supports families during some of life’s most important and challenging moments. Our programs include trauma counseling for kids and teen, shorter-term teen crisis counseling, home visiting services for expecting parents and families with infants and young kids and neighborhood-based early learning playgroups that help young kids build critical early learning and social-emotional skills.
At ReadyKids, we believe strong relationships are the foundation for healthy kids and thriving families. By helping caregivers build nurturing connections, supporting kids’ emotional well-being, and increasing access to resources and opportunities, we are creating lasting change that benefits our entire community. We work closely with schools, healthcare providers, community organizations, and local partners to ensure families receive the support they need to succeed.
As one of Charlottesville’s oldest nonprofits, ReadyKids remains dedicated to meeting the evolving needs of our community while honoring a legacy of service that spans more than a century. Together with our participants, staff, and community partners we are working to ensure every child has the opportunity to be learning, healthy, and safe.
