Mission Statement
Friends of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library is a volunteer-powered organization that raises funds and provides support for library services in our communities.About Friends of the Jefferson-Madison Regional Library
The Friends of Jefferson-Madison Regional Library raise funds to fill a growing gap in local library funding — support for public programming. Five JMRL jurisdictions – Albemarle County, City of Charlottesville, Greene County, Louisa County, and Nelson County – provide funding for staffing, basic services, and operations. The Friends of JMRL solicit memberships, book donations and used book sales, and generous dollar donations to generate funds for JMRL public programming, including:

-Summer reading programs for children and young adults, including rewards and small “achievement” prizes.
-Enhancement of the various collections of the library system (books, audio-visual materials, etc.)
-Each library branch’s individual needs and support of local book review programs
-Providing major grants when new branches are opened (e.g., Greene County)
-Providing major grants when branches are renovated (e.g., Crozet, Nelson County)
-Annual financial support for live author events
-Funding parking at Water Street Garage in downtown Charlottesville
